Privacy

How Star, by Universe Allstar, handles parent and athlete information, including information about children, for age verification.

Star, by Universe Allstar, uses parent and athlete information to verify age and keep a card ready for check-in. This notice covers what we collect, how we use it, and how we treat information about children.

Who Star is for

A parent or legal guardian creates the Star account, uploads the file, and pays. Children do not create Star accounts. We do not offer a child login, chat, public profile, or social features. Event Producers and gyms may see that an athlete has a valid card so they can check the person on the floor against the roster.

What we collect

From the parent or guardian we collect name, email, and password. For each athlete we collect legal name, date of birth, a current headshot, and an accepted identity document such as a government photo ID or passport, Native Tribal ID, or birth certificate. A birth certificate also needs a school record, such as a student portal screenshot or a current report card. If a gym sends an invite, we also store that gym and optional team so the card can show the right program. Payment records are stored when a plan is purchased. We keep limited technical logs used to run and protect the service.

Children’s privacy

Many Star athletes are children. The only child information we ask for is what check-in needs: legal name, date of birth, a current headshot, and an accepted identity document. The card shows current age, which updates on the athlete’s birthday.

Consent

By creating the Star account and submitting an athlete, the parent or guardian is asking Universe Star to verify that athlete’s age. If we later learn a child submitted a file without a parent, we will close that record and delete the uploads when we can confirm the request.

How we use it

We use this information to review age, issue or expire a verification card, remind families when a headshot or annual plan is due, and show a gym or Event Producer whether a card is valid at check-in. We do not use athlete identity documents for advertising.

Event check-in photos

When an athlete checks in at an event, the event organizer takes a live photo of the athlete and compares it with the verified headshot on the card. Some events use automatic face matching from our hosting provider to help with that comparison; the person checking in still makes the final call. The photo and the check-in result can be seen by Universe Star staff and the event organizer that ran the check-in. We keep check-in photos for the season of the event and delete them sooner if a parent or guardian asks.

Sharing

A linked gym or Event Producer can see verification status, name, and card validity. We use processors that host the application, send email, and, when checkout is enabled, process payment. We do not sell athlete files. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of a child or the integrity of competition.

No marketing to children

We do not advertise to children through Star. We do not sell children’s personal information. Email about an expiring headshot or annual plan goes to the parent or guardian who owns the account.

Retention, access, and deletion

Headshots, identity documents, and card records are kept while the account is active and as long as needed to show a prior verification or handle a dispute. A parent or guardian may review, correct, or ask us to delete an athlete record by emailing hello@universeallstar.com from the address on the account. Deleting the record expires the card.

Security

Identity documents and headshots are stored as private files, not on a public page. Access is limited to the guardian account and Universe Star staff who review verification.
